Hey Cindy Sheehan- your time is up.

A few days ago Cindy Sheehan came through Charlotte, NC on her pathetic, nonsensical, purposeless trek from Texas to Washington, DC. She was suppose to speak to a rally of left wing, anti-war protestors here in Bryant Park in downtown Charlotte. What happened was quite comical.

First, the turn out of anti-war protestors was pathetic. In fact, they were out numbered 3 to 1 by a very loud and very vocal group of pro-Bush, pro-Iraq, anti-Sheehan people. When Sheehan arrived she surveyed the situation, did not see any cameras from the national press, noticed that there were nearly no anti-war protestors there to support her tired diatribe and in fact they were out numbered by Iraq war supporters and she refused to get out of her car.

The second comical thing about this ridiculous event was the excuse she gave to a local reporter about why she would not get out of her car. She claimed that all those pro-Iraq supporters scared her and that they seemed "violent" to her and therefore she would not disembark the car and speak to her loyal loony supporters as promised.

Now here is the most hilarious part. This liberal loony crowd that we have here in Charlotte bought this truly lame excuse and have been bashing the pro-Iraq supporters daily with full assistance from in the Charlotte Observer. Of course any of you who have had the misfortune to actually read the Charlotte Observer know that it is a far left liberal Democrat rag, exceeded only in its liberalism here in the South by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. But I digress. The Observer has published letters to the editor that basically say that the pro-Iraq supporters should have been denied their First Amendment rights to free speech and been forced to leave the park by local police so that poor little frightened Sheehan could have felt safe to exit her car and exercise her right to free speech and confirm for us all one more time what an idiot she is.

The point that there were no cameras around that would get her on the national evening news and that there were not enough anti-war protestors present to get up a good flag football game and that all Sheehan is interested in is publicity has been completely ignored by this liberal bunch of whiners here in Charlotte. They failed to provide her with a photo op she was seeking so she didn't even get our of her car. It was a drive by snooting!

The real thing to take away from this comical event is that the liberal elite think that the First Amendment of the Constitution applies only to them. Anytime anyone disagrees with any point of their far left liberal agenda we are labeled as "bigots", "intolerant", "ignorant" and now people chanting their opposition to an idiot like Sheehan we are referred to in the Charlotte Observer as "violent". Here is a new point of reference for them. Violence is a religious lunatic blowing himself up along with dozens of innocent bystanders in the name of a false god. Violence is flying three jet-liners into the ground and killing thousands of Americans.

Cindy - go home, sit down and shut up. You've had your day in the sun. Ok, everyone all together now. Let's spread some violence now - CINDY GO HOME! CINDY GO HOME! CINDY GO HOME!

THE LEFT IS PUSHING SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE AGAIN

Once again the left wing members of the Democrat (Socialist) Party are beginning the drumming for their assault on the American health care system. It seems that they will not stop until they have created yet another socialistic entitlement program to insure America's financial collapse. I am sure that their zealous drumming has been fueled by their expectation that the queen of socialism, Hillary Clinton will be elected in 2008. May God help us and prevent that!

I have been a part of the health care delivery system in this country for 26 years. I will be the first to say that there are problems and that they can and should be fixed but creating another failed federal health system like VA health care is not the answer. The answer lies with the legislature of each state. California is currently trying to work out a solution but they have left out one major point that must be implemented - insurance company regulation. The Democrats there are also trying to doubly tax doctors and hospitals with ridiculous fees. Once again the Democrat solution is rob the rich and pay the poor.

Here is a simple solution to the problem of uninsured persons and their alleged lack of access to the current system. First, since the sale of health insurance is state regulated, each state should pass a law that says every citizen of the state must have health insurance coverage. Notice I say "citizen" not illegal immigrants. Every state requires every vehicle to be insured so why not the health of every citizen. If any state refuses to pass the law they are immediately cut from the Federal funding of their Medicaid program.

Second, just as with car insurance, the state would design a low premium, low deductible, low co-pay, full coverage (no treatment carve outs) health plan that every insurance company selling health insurance policies in the state has to offer. The insurance company will have to offer this policy to anyone regardless of age or health status. The premium for this policy would be regulated by the state just like car insurance premiums are regulated. If they refuse to offer the policy then they lose their license to operate in that state. The companies would also be able to sell other plans with benefits that they design but to prevent the premium gouging, cost shifting and the gross profit taking that is going on now in the health insurance industry, those premiums would also be regulated by the state. Any increase in premium for any product they sell would have to be approved by a state panel made up of citizens, employer representatives, and state DHHS bureaucrats. The insurance commissioners of 13 states are presently serving time in both state and federal prisons for graft and corruption so these person's control over this new system would be limited by the panel.

Third, every citizen, adult and child, would be required to obtain and maintain health insurance coverage. If an adult or child can not qualify for Medicaid then they must buy at least the state designed policy from the insurance company of their choice. Free market system will prevail here.

Fourth, rather than this new health coverage law be enforced by police like car insurance, employers would be required to verify that all employees have health insurance coverage in order to be employed. No health insurance - no job. Employers may choose to provide premium assistance to their employees but it should not be mandated. To insure that all children are covered day care centers, kindergartens, schools and universities would be required to verify that a child has current health coverage as a part of the admission process. No health care coverage - no admission and no education.

Fifth, all violations of coverage discovered by employers and the education system would be reported to the state. Insurance companies would have to report cancelations and policy changes to the state just as the auto insurance industry has to do now. Violators will be sent a warning from the state DHHS and the violator must provide proof of insurance within 30 days, just like with car insurance, or face a fine equal to at least one year's premium for the required minimum policy.

This simple solution provides affordable coverage for all persons and a level playing field for all. If you think it through everyone gives a little but everyone gains a little also. Insurance companies are required to insure all comers but they also gain premiums from young, healthy persons who typically do not buy health insurance. Employers are required to help regulate the system but they also have the opportunity to reduce or eliminate the most expensive employee benefit on their books. The simplicity of it will most probably guarantee that no state will ever adopt such a program. The state benefits from having a healthy work force and new employers would probably flock to a state with such a system. The citizens would benefit because they would be able to obtain affordable health care and for the first time on most states the gouging by the health insurance industry would finally become regulated providing premium stability. The big losers will be illegal immigrants one of the most costly groups to the current system. There will be no room in the inn for anyone here illegally.

I hope someone will consider this suggestion of how to resolve the problems of our helath care system.
